The Phantom of the Opera
Bernard as PiangiOn December 8th 1990, Bernard kicked off the Australian premiere of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical The Phantom of the Opera in the role of The Auctioneer.

 Since then, he has performed many different roles in the production, over a total period of 5 years (around 2,000 performances) so far.

 As well as The Auctioneer, Bernard has played Giles André, Ubaldo Piangi, Monsieur Réyér, Monsieur Lefèvre, The Jeweller, The Hairdresser, The Fire Chief, The Jester, Tin Soldier, The Flunky and Red Death Double and most of the other male ensemble parts at one time or another. He has been a part of The Phantom in every city in Australia where the show has been performed, as well as in Auckland - New Zealand, Seoul - South Korea, Taipei – Taiwan and in Hong Kong. He has also rehearsed, on stage, the entire role of The Phantom.

 Cats
GrowltigerIn 1989, Bernard performed the roles of Gus the Theatre Cat, Growl Tiger and Bustopher Jones in the Australia and New Zealand tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Cats which played in Adelaide, Perth, Newcastle, Brisbane and Auckland.

Guys and Dolls

In 2002, Bernard performed the role of Big Julie in a semi-staged production of Guys and Dolls produced by the Adelaide Festival Centre and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
